We do not provide job placements, however we offer the highest quality of education to our students.

The State of Texas is unique, in that it is one of just a few states that offers very specific rules and regulations providing clear guidance to the licensure and regulations of laser hair removal practitioners.

From the perspective of a new industry professional, you first want to understand that there are 4 levels of licensure in the State of Texas:

FOUR LEVELS OF LICENSURE IN THE STATE OF TEXAS:

LEVEL 1: Certified Laser Hair Removal Technician - Apprentice-in-Training

Able to perform treatments, but only when directly supervised.

LEVEL 2: Certified Laser Hair Removal Technician

Able to perform treatments without direct supervision.

LEVEL 3: Certified Senior Laser Hair Removal Technician

Able to supervise and apprentice-in-training.

LEVEL 4: Professional Laser Hair Removal Technician

Able to register a facility. A Professional or Physician must be on-site at all times whenlaser hair removal is being performed (a Senior may fill in for up to 44 days in the event the Professional resigns from the facility).

Laser Hair Removal is regulated in Texas by the Department of Licensing and Regulation. Click on the following link for state supplied forms, rules and regulations.

https://www.tdlr.texas.gov/las/las.htm

NOTE: As you may already suspect, laser hair removal is regulated at the state level, so be careful, as if you are practicing in a state other than Texas, these rules will not apply to you. You want to inquire with your state regulatory authority (i.e., medical board, cosmetology board, health department) as to the rules and regulations specific to where you are located.

STEPS TO BECOME A PROFESSIONAL LASER HAIR REMOVAL TECHNICIAN

In Texas, a practitioner is not able to skip steps! As an example, in order to become a Professional Technician, you must first be a Senior Technician. And as you may have guessed, to be a Senior, you must first be a Technician. To be a Technician, you must first become an apprentice. So, where to begin?

STEP 1

40-Hour Laser Hair Removal - Apprentice-in-Training

[Course 1, Level 1]

The 1st step is to take the Texas required 40-Hour Laser Hair Removal course from a Texas approved educational provider - such as the Texas Laser Institute. This course is the fundamental class of instruction to learn the necessary considerations for providing safe and effective laser hair removal procedures.

STEP 2

Laser Hair Removal - 100 Treatment Practicum

[Course 2, Level 2]

After the completion of your 40-Hour class, the progression to becoming a Technician and then a Senior Technician is simply completed by performing or supervising 100 Treatments, respectively. You must submit an application to TDLR following the completion of each level's requirements and receive your updated license prior to beginning the steps necessary to advancing to the next level registration.

The highest level of certification is earned by completion of a Professional Examination from a State approved certifying entity, such as TLI, and submitting the necessary application with TDLR. After receiving your license from the State as Laser Hair Removal Technician, you have the opportunity to reach higher levels. Here are 2 more levels as a technician you can reach, if you desire to:

Senior Laser Technician

[Level 3]

In this level, it is required that you observe 100 Treatments be performed by an apprentice. At completion, student will receive 4 log sheet with a state application to mail to the state to obtain the Senior Technician License. Once you have received your Senior License you will need to take your Professional Laser Technician test.

Professional Laser Technician

[Level 4]

This is the final, highest level. In this level, it is required to take a written exam. Once you have completed the exam and reached a passing grade, you will receive a Professional Laser Technician certificate. To obtain your Professional Laser Technician License from the state you must mail a copy of your certificate along with the application and state processing fees.
